Studio Abbey Road partners with corto.alto: "The Polestar experience is insanely cool"

In the heart of London, Abbey Road Studios, a "Mecca of British music" according to jazz musician Liam Shortall, is embarking on a new chapter. This iconic studio, renowned for its rich history and iconic recordings, is now focusing on jazz, improvisation, and creativity.

Recently, Liam Shortall spent a day making music in Studio Two, a room that has echoed the sounds of some of the greatest artists in history. The experience, he says, was awe-inspiring, with references to the people who work there, the instruments available, and the studio's iconic history.

Meanwhile, in the world of automotive technology, a new collaboration is taking shape. Grammy-nominated Jon Hopkins has been invited to create new music for an over-the-air music update in Polestar 3. This collaboration is part of celebrating the launch of Abbey Road Studios Mode, a groundbreaking innovation co-developed by Abbey Road Studios and Bowers & Wilkins.

The Abbey Road Studios Mode transforms Polestar 3's cabin into a mobile sound studio, using 25 strategically placed Bowers & Wilkins speakers. This technology was used in a recent session aimed at reimagining two of Liam Shortall's hit songs using Abbey Road Studios Mode presets.

The first song reworked was "Energised", inspired by the Slope preset, known for its uptempo, festival-ready rhythm. The second song reworked was "Latency", inspired by the Open preset, which invites more space and allows for a slower, more introspective piece.

Liam Shortall, a multi-instrumentalist skilled in playing trombone, trumpet, guitar, and piano, found the car test crucial for making decisions about his music. He believes that the car environment offers a unique perspective, allowing him to connect with his music in a new way.

Jon Hopkins, who is also involved in this collaboration, emphasizes the authenticity of the car mode creation. He mentions that the historical checks of mixes outside Abbey Road ensure that the sound quality is as close as possible to the original studio experience.

Corto.alto, Liam's band, is redefining the way the world looks at British jazz. With their innovative approach and unique sound, they are making waves in the music industry.

In a separate development, jazz star Gregory Porter has also been associated with Abbey Road Studios, contributing to the rich tapestry of talent that the studio continues to attract.

This collaboration between Abbey Road Studios and Polestar, with Bowers & Wilkins at the forefront, is a testament to the power of innovation and the enduring allure of music. As we move forward, it's clear that the future of music is in good hands.
