The Ravello Foundation, under the leadership of President Alessio Vlad and Artistic Director Lucio Gregoretti, has announced the lineup for the 73rd edition of the Ravello Festival. The festival, which takes place from July 6 to August 25, will be held at the stunning Belvedere of Villa Rufolo.
The festival promises a diverse and captivating programme, with 15 concerts in total. The opening concert on July 6 will be led by Jérémie Rhorer and his orchestra Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, performing Wagner's Parsifal prelude, Tannhäuser overture, and Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique.
On Saturday, July 12, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, under the direction of Daniel Harding, will perform at the festival. Harding will conduct Blumine by Gustav Mahler, Johannes Brahms's Second Symphony, and Wagner's Tristan und Isolde prelude and death. The American children's choir Uniting Voices Chicago, directed by Josephine Lee, will also perform on this day.
The festival will feature renowned orchestras such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, La Scala Philharmonic, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. On Saturday, July 19, the La Scala Philharmonic, directed by Myung-Whun Chung, will perform at the festival, with Mao Fujita performing Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto.
On Sunday, July 13, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra will make its exclusive Italian debut. Yuja Wang will direct the orchestra and perform in two piano concertos - Tchaikovsky's First and Nikolai Kapustin's Fourth. However, specific information about the program for this day is not yet available.
The festival will also include exceptional soloists and conductors like Daniel Harding, Yuja Wang, Myung-Whun Chung, Stefano Bollani, Kent Nagano, and Michael Spyres. On Sunday, July 20, Filippo Gorini will perform at the Belvedere of Villa Rufolo with a program of music by György Kurtág, Robert Schumann, and Franz Schubert.
