Supports 34 local initiatives promoting community integration
In a significant move towards promoting digital inclusion and social cohesion, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration has announced the funding of 34 integration projects across the state. These projects are part of the 2025 funding call "Integration on the Ground - Strengthening Municipal Structures", and they aim to improve digital participation for people with a migration background.
The selection process for these projects was assisted by an independent expert panel, ensuring a fair and unbiased decision-making process. The selected projects will receive funding for up to three years, providing a total of approximately 1.8 million euros.
The focus of these projects extends beyond digital participation. They also aim to promote encounter and exchange in diverse society, strengthening intercultural dialogue and breaking down prejudices. These initiatives not only promote social cohesion but also strengthen the democratic foundation at the local level.
Both municipalities and free carriers are eligible for funding, with a proportional grant of between 75 and 90 percent. The maximum funding per project is set at 80,000 euros.
Dr. Ute Leidig, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration, emphasised the importance of these initiatives, stating, "Diversity is a strength, and participation is a goal."
Secure access to digital technologies and services is considered a basic prerequisite for social participation in an increasingly digital world. These projects are designed to address this need, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to participate fully in digital society.
The Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration can be contacted via their Press Office or the Citizen's Representative for further information. Contact details can be found on the Ministry's website.
Unfortunately, specific details about which cities or municipalities received funding within the framework program "Integration am Boden - Stärkung kommunaler Strukturen" in 2025 are not yet available. However, it is clear that these projects represent a significant step towards a more inclusive and cohesive society.
In addition to the new projects, measures for culturally sensitive design of existing offers and the establishment of structures for honorary office guides, which were funded last year, will also continue to be supported.
These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to fostering a society where everyone feels included and valued, regardless of their background or digital capabilities.
