Suspect in motorcycle theft passes away in Seremban police custody, with the cause of death under investigation following an autopsy that revealed no signs of physical harm.
A 46-year-old male detainee passed away at the Seremban police station lockup on August 31, according to a statement made by Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, the police chief.
The incident occurred in the afternoon at around 6.30 pm. The man was healthy when he was taken to the magistrate for remand, two days prior, for motorcycle theft under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
The police immediately conducted an investigation following the detainee's death. A review of CCTV footage of the lockup showed no signs of fights or suspicious movement that could lead to the detainee's death. No complaints were made to the magistrate or the National Legal Aid Foundation about the man's health.
Upon arrival at the scene, the medical team confirmed the detainee's death. The autopsy results revealed no external and internal injuries to the detainee. However, the exact cause of death is not specified in the article.
The investigation into the death is being handled by the Negeri Sembilan police. The police are still waiting for the full report from the hospital to identify the true cause of the detainee's death. The search results do not provide information about a detective who will investigate the case.
Datuk Alzafny Ahmad also confirmed that the police have been in contact with the detainee's family members and are providing them with the necessary support during this difficult time.
The police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward and contact the Negeri Sembilan police station. The public is assured that the police are doing everything in their power to uncover the true cause of the detainee's death and bring those responsible to justice.
