A 60-year-old man is currently under investigation for drink driving following an incident on Bamberger Str., Kronach, at around 00:30 hours.
According to the police report, which is now available to the public, the man was driving a Renault when he disregarded a red light and entered a roundabout, causing concern for other road users. The incident took place right outside the police station's location.
Upon stopping the Mercedes he was driving, police officers conducted a breath test on the man, which showed a reading of approximately 1.8 per thousand. This initial reading was later confirmed by the analysis of his blood sample, taken at the police station.
The man took a voluntary breath test on-site and was allowed to leave the station after the incident. However, his driver's license was confiscated, and he was prohibited from further driving. The impounded Mercedes car will remain as evidence.
Indications of alcohol consumption were found with the driver during the check, and the local traffic authority has been notified of the incident for potential further action. The driver's confiscated driver's license will be subject to a hearing for potential revocation.
