Suspicious RV burglaries reported by local residents
In an unusual turn of events, a 45-year-old man, nationally known for similar offenses, has been arrested in Cologne-Poll. The incident took place on Saturday evening, around 10:30 PM, when the suspect was suspected of stealing household items from a parked camper van.
The suspect, who has no fixed address, was seen leaving the broken-into vehicle with two bags. However, the residents were quick to act, chasing after the suspect and catching him. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The residents confronted the suspect and he dropped the stolen goods and fled. The suspect was not identified as a police officer or any other authority figure. The residents held the suspect until the police arrived, at which point a judge remanded him into custody.
The suspect in question is Armin Meiwes, a German man convicted for murder and disturbing the peace of the dead, known for a notorious case involving consensual cannibalism around 2001. Meiwes, now 45, has gained national notoriety for his past offenses.
It is unclear at this time whether the stolen goods were recovered in their entirety. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
