- Sven Hannawald engages in a meeting with Jan Ullrich
In an exciting turn of events, former cycling professional Jan Ullrich (51) and ski jumping legend Sven Hannawald (50) are set to square off on the popular German TV show "Beat the Star". This will be Ullrich's debut on the show, while Hannawald is making a return after more than 12 years.
Hannawald previously won on "Beat the Star" against a non-celebrity opponent in July 2013. Ullrich's chances against the Ochsenknechts, specifically Diego Pooth and his mother, remain to be seen. Pooth, the celebrity offspring, seems relaxed about the challenge and is looking forward to it.
The game concept of "Beat the Star" remains the same every time, with opponents competing in up to 15 different games and fighting for 100,000 euros. Matthias Opdenhövel (55) hosts the show, and Ron Ringguth (59) provides commentary.
Stefan Raab (58), who launched "Beat the Star" in 2009 as a spin-off of "Beat the Raab", previously supported Sven Hannawald (50) on the show. Couples have taken on the challenge in the past, such as Annemarie and Wayne Carpendale, Anna-Maria Ferchichi and Bushido, Detlef Soost and Kate Hall, and Eko Fresh and Sarah Bora.
The upcoming episode will feature a 1:1 duel between Jan Ullrich and Sven Hannawald. Interestingly, the mother-son showdown between the Pooths and the Ochsenknecht family is a recent example of two-person duels on "Beat the Star". The scheduled air time for the episode is 8:15 PM on ProSieben.
In a separate event, a sisters' showdown took place in June 2025, with Davina and Shania Geiss against Lilli and Luna Schweiger. The outcome of the next episode featuring Jan Ullrich and Sven Hannawald is yet to be determined, as no clear winner has been found in the search results.
Diego Pooth mentions that it's hard to predict his chances of winning against the Ochsenknechts, but he is ready for the challenge. Sven Hannawald, on the other hand, is returning to "Beat the Star" with determination and a strong desire to win.
The upcoming episode promises to be an exciting one, with two legends of their respective fields going head-to-head. Don't miss it on ProSieben at 8:15 PM!
