New Joint Venture to Revolutionize Digital Sports Ecosystem in Switzerland

Kicker Ventures GmbH, a groundbreaking joint venture between Olympia-Verlag and Ringier Sports Media Group AG, is set to launch operations this fall. The new company aims to create a digital sports ecosystem that sets new standards and grows sustainably, subject to regulatory approval.

Markus Krienbühl, former media and communications manager of FC Luzern, will take the reins as operational manager of the new company. His leadership is expected to steer Kicker Ventures towards success in Switzerland, a market that Olympia-Verlag views as strategically important.

Ringier's extensive market knowledge is considered vital for Kicker's success in the Swiss market. The partnership between Kicker and Ringier, which has been in effect since June 2023, sees Ringier Advertising exclusively marketing the sports news portal in Switzerland. This partnership is expected to contribute to the growth of the digital sports ecosystem.

The partnership between Kicker and Ringier is not a new one. In the past, the two entities have collaborated, and this latest venture promises to bring innovative digital offerings to the sports industry in Switzerland. Robin Lingg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RSMG, emphasizes that the joint venture combines the digital innovation power and sports expertise of Kicker with the local strength of sport.ch.

Barbel Schnell, CEO of Olympia-Verlag GmbH, shares Lingg's enthusiasm. She believes that the partnership will strengthen Kicker's presence in the DACH region and attract more sports enthusiasts to the digital sports ecosystem being created by Kicker Ventures.

However, the transaction requires approval from relevant antitrust authorities, and the approval for the establishment of the joint venture RSMG kicker Switzerland AG is still pending from the involved companies' corporate authorities and potential regulatory authorities, depending on jurisdiction and sector regulations.

Further content details will be revealed following the completion of the regulatory process. Until then, the sports community in Switzerland eagerly awaits the launch of Kicker Ventures GmbH and the innovative digital offerings it promises to bring. The partnership between Kicker and Ringier is poised to revolutionize the digital sports ecosystem in Switzerland, providing an attractive offering for sports enthusiasts.
