Tame Impala's upcoming album is slated for release in October
Tame Impala, the enigmatic Australian psych-rock band, is gearing up for the release of their fifth studio album, 'Deadbeat', slated for October 17. This long-awaited project marks Tame Impala's first full-length project since 2020's The Slow Rush.
The new album draws heavily from Western Australia's bush doof scene - outdoor electronic raves set in remote landscapes. This fusion of genres has resulted in a unique sound that Tame Impala describes as "future primitive rave act".
Production for 'Deadbeat' was led by Kevin Parker himself, with the recording taking place in Fremantle and Kevin Parker's Wave House studio in Injidup during early 2025.
The album is led by the singles 'End of Summer' and 'Loser', with 'Loser' being released on September 3. The music video for 'Loser', directed by Julian Kristofski, features actor Joe Keery.
For those who prefer a more vintage listening experience, a limited numbered run of cassettes will also be available for 'Deadbeat'.
For those eager to secure a copy of 'Deadbeat', pre-orders are now open in multiple formats, including exclusive coloured vinyl editions through Urban Outfitters and indie record stores.
To stay updated on all things 'Deadbeat', be sure to follow Tame Impala's Google News channel. As the release date approaches, fans can expect more details and perhaps even a few surprises.
With 'Deadbeat', Tame Impala continues to push the boundaries of music, delivering a unique blend of sounds that promises to captivate listeners once again. The album's lyrics revolve around themes of stagnation, self-doubt, and cycles of negativity, making for an introspective and thought-provoking listening experience. Get ready to immerse yourself in the world of Tame Impala once more when 'Deadbeat' drops on October 17.
