Tawhid Afridi, a content creator, was detained in connection with the July Uprising homicide investigation.

In a significant development, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh has arrested Tawhid Afridi, a content creator, in Barisal on the night of August 24, 2022. The arrest is in connection with a murder case that was filed during the July Uprising.

The Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman led the team that arrested Afridi. The CID chief, Additional IGP Md Sibgat Ullah, confirmed the arrest.

The murder case names a total of 25 individuals as accused, including Tawhid Afridi, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina (who is listed as the prime accused), and Afridi's father, MyTV Chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi, who is the 22nd accused in the same case. In addition to the named individuals, the case also includes 150 unnamed people as accused.

It is important to note that the CID is not involved in the arrest of Nasir Uddin Sathi, as he was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) on 17 August.

The ousted prime minister is followed by former minister Obaidul Quader and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in the list of accused. However, there is no available information about the current status of Tawhid Afridi's arrest or involvement of other officials in the alleged murder case from July.

The team that arrested Afridi has already left Barisal for the capital (Dhaka), and Tawhid Afridi is being transported to Dhaka. The arrest of Tawhid Afridi and Nasir Uddin Sathi were not mentioned in the earlier bullet points.

It is worth noting that the arrest of Tawhid Afridi is not related to the arrest of Nasir Uddin Sathi, which was carried out by a separate team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB).

This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing investigation of the murder case filed during the July Uprising, and it will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming days.
