Tennis player Jannik Sinner reports improvement in health ahead of the US Open, following his premature exit from the Cincinnati tournament.

In a surprising turn of events, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner faced a setback in the Cincinnati Masters 1000 final. The Italian tennis star, who had been in top form, was not his usual self during the match against Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner's serve was ineffective, and his rally tolerance was lacking, leading to more missed returns than normal. This performance was a stark contrast to his previous runs in the tournament, where he reached the final without dropping a set.

The issue seemed to stem from a "virus" that Sinner had been battling since Sunday, following his semifinal victory on Saturday. Despite feeling unwell, Sinner pushed through the final, but it was not enough to secure the victory. Alcaraz took advantage of Sinner's condition and emerged as the winner.

Sinner's coach, Darren Cahill, reported that the young player is feeling a bit better. He is expected to rest and recover in preparation for his upcoming matches at the U.S. Open, where his first match is scheduled for either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.

This loss marks the third time Sinner has been defeated by Alcaraz and once by Andrey Rublev on hard courts since 2024. However, Sinner has been on a winning streak on hard courts, having won each of the last three majors.

Prior to the Cincinnati Masters 1000, Sinner had a remarkable 65-4 record on hard courts since the start of 2024. His most notable victory this year was at Wimbledon, where he clinched the title in July.

On a positive note, Sinner bounced back from his loss at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 by winning the final of the 2024 U.S. Open against American Taylor Fritz. The tennis world eagerly awaits to see how Sinner performs in the upcoming matches at the U.S. Open.

The draw for the tournament in New York will be announced on Thursday afternoon. Stay tuned for more updates on Jannik Sinner's journey at the U.S. Open.
