Tennis Rivals Anisimova and Sabalenka Set for Head-to-Head Clash
Amanda Anisimova and Aryna Sabalenka Battle for US Open Crown
After an impressive run, 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova will face World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open final. Both players are aiming for a maiden major crown.
Anisimova reached the final following a tough encounter against Naomi Osaka. The opening set was a tight affair, with both players trading breaks. The match was played under the prime-time glare of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Osaka let out a big roar when Anisimova hit a shot into the net on set point in the tiebreak of the first set. However, Anisimova came back from a set down to win the match, taking the second set in a tiebreak after a 12-game battle.
Sabalenka, on the other hand, recovered from a nervy start to beat Jessica Pegula and reach the final. She is bidding to win her first major this season. Sabalenka is aiming to prove that she can do better in finals, having lost to Anisimova in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
For Anisimova, the US Open final will be her first at Flushing Meadows. She has already reached back-to-back Grand Slam finals, having lost to Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon 6-0, 6-0. Despite the defeat, Osaka felt inspired rather than disappointed by her display against Anisimova. She did not feel sad or upset about her performance.
The delayed line call by the automated system during the match between Anisimova and Osaka did not seem to affect the outcome. Anisimova took a 4-1 lead in the third set and held on to win the match.
As they prepare to face each other in the final, both players will be eager to claim the US Open title. The match promises to be an exciting clash between two talented young players.
