Tennis star Zverev embarks on long-term treatment process

In the world of tennis, Alexander Zverev is gearing up for the US Open with renewed vigour and a positive outlook. The German player, currently ranked number four in the world, has been making headlines off the court due to some personal and health-related issues.

Zverev has been open about seeking "professional help" for his mental health issues, but has not disclosed the name of his mental coach or psychotherapist. He mentioned this at a press conference on July 1st, marking a significant step towards addressing his mental well-being.

The 24-year-old has been working hard to overcome these challenges and is seeing positive results. He believes the help he is receiving is doing him good.

On the physical front, Zverev has been dealing with back pain for the last few weeks. However, he remains optimistic about his chances at the US Open, stating that he feels much better and is ready for the challenge.

Zverev's preparations for the North America tour included training at the Rafael Nadal Academy on Mallorca. He also took a break to spend time with friends before the tour.

The tennis star's recent health scare in Cincinnati, where he experienced a breathing and circulation problem, remains a mystery. Zverev believes he had a reaction to too many painkillers, which might have caused the issue. Fortunately, his blood test results were fine.

Despite these setbacks, Zverev's spirit remains high. He shared that he felt "empty" and lost the joy in everything he does after his first-round debacle at Wimbledon. However, he is now back to his cheerful self, with his daughter Mayla, the person who makes him happiest in life, by his side.

Zverev's father, Alexander Zverev senior, was present on the training court, supporting his son. His brother Mischa Zverev and friend Sergei Bubka Jr. were also present at the press conference in New York.

Zverev's goal remains the same: to win his first Grand Slam title. With a favourable draw and his renewed spirit, he is confident about his chances at the US Open.

As Zverev steps onto the court, tennis fans worldwide will be rooting for him, hoping to see him lift his first Grand Slam trophy.
