Tesla Autopark Function Triggered at Home Through Homemade Duct Tape Guided System [VIDEO]
Tesla's latest advancements in autonomous driving technology have been making headlines, with the successful demonstration of the Autopark feature in the 2024 Cybertruck and 2024 Model Y. This innovative driver-assistance system allows Tesla vehicles to maneuver into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces on public roads autonomously.
The Autopark feature comes bundled with either Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) or Full Self-Driving (FSD), underscoring Tesla's commitment to integrating autonomous driving capabilities into its vehicles. Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has referred to the upcoming FSD version 14 as feeling "sentient," hinting at significant advancements in the software.
Tesla is currently internally testing FSD version 14, with Musk claiming it will be two to three times safer and better than a human driver. The software has already demonstrated impressive capabilities, such as stopping at a park toll booth with no physical gate and mimicking human behaviour by waiting until passengers have completed their payment before driving off.
However, not all vehicles have been able to keep pace with these advancements. A 2018 Model 3 equipped with Hardware 3 and FSD 12.6.4 failed to recognise a DIY parking space, highlighting the importance of both hardware and software updates for Tesla's autonomous driving capabilities. Further testing is needed to determine if the issue lies in the Model 3's older hardware or its lack of the latest FSD 13 software.
Emmanuel Huna, a YouTube content creator, recently uploaded a video showing Tesla's FSD software being tricked using white duct tape in a residential driveway, a phenomenon known as the "duct tape Autopark trick." Despite this minor setback, if testing stays on track, Tesla could begin rolling out FSD 14 as soon as next month.
The video demonstrates the use of the Autopark feature with a 2024 Cybertruck and a 2024 Model Y, both running FSD version 13.2.8 on Hardware 4 (AI4). The Autopark feature was previously demonstrated with these vehicles, but a 2018 Model 3 failed to recognise the DIY parking space, underscoring the importance of both hardware and software updates for Tesla's autonomous driving capabilities.
Elon Musk has hyped FSD 14 as the second biggest update ever after version 12, and he is reportedly heavily involved in its development. As Tesla continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology, it remains to be seen how FSD 14 will revolutionise the way we drive.
