Tesla Unveils Robotic Vacuum Designed for Robotaxis

Tesla has taken a step further in its quest for automation, unveiling a robotic vacuum cleaner designed specifically for cleaning its fleet of Robotaxis. The video titled "this robot sucks," shared on Twitter on January 31, 2025, showcases the innovative device.

The robotic vacuum cleaner, yet to be named, is reminiscent of Tesla's 'snake' concept charger. However, future Robotaxis may feature wireless charging. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with the ability to switch attachments by itself, making it highly efficient in cleaning every last crumb and every last crevice.

The video depicts the robotic vacuum cleaner finding and cleaning up potato chips from a dirty Robotaxi filled with crumbs, extra water bottles, and a forgotten backpack. It is also shown raising the center armrest, adding to its versatility.

The narration describes the robotic vacuum as waking, cleaning, and living, suggesting a level of autonomy and adaptability. It is depicted as soaking up every last crumb and every last crevice, demonstrating its effectiveness.

Despite the video's intriguing glimpse into Tesla's latest innovation, it does not reveal the name of the robot vacuum cleaner nor provides any further details about its capabilities or specifications. It is also not clear if the robotic vacuum is available for purchase or in the testing phase.

The narration also mentions that people leave gifts for the robotic vacuum and feed it like a king, hinting at the potential affection the device might garner. The video ends with the phrase, "Until next time, my old friend," leaving viewers eager for more information.

Tesla's Robotaxi service is set to launch in Austin, Texas, in June 2025. The development of this robotic vacuum cleaner, like many of Tesla's innovations, is driven by its leadership and engineering teams since its founding in 2003. Elon Musk, in particular, has been central to the initiation and promotion of the Robotaxi service, having announced the Tesla Cybercab, a fully autonomous robotaxi planned for production in 2026.
