Tesla has announced the release of a significantly upgraded version of its popular electric SUV, the Model Y Performance. The new model, produced in Tesla's German factory, is set to hit European markets in September.

The Model Y Performance boasts several notable improvements over its predecessor. The time to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h has been reduced by two tenths, now reaching 3.5 seconds. The display in the vehicle has grown to a generous 16 inches, providing a more immersive driving experience.

The new Model Y Performance also boasts a net battery capacity of 82-84 kilowatt hours, a 5 kilowatt hour increase compared to its predecessor. This upgrade translates to a new range of 580 kilometers, a significant 66 kilometer improvement.

The Model Y Performance's efficiency has also been enhanced, with a reduced consumption of 11 watt hours to 162 watt hours per kilometer. This, combined with the increased range, makes the Model Y Performance a formidable competitor in the electric vehicle market.

The Model Y Performance is not just faster and more efficient; it also offers a more comfortable ride. The vehicle features an improved suspension that adapts in real-time, ensuring a smooth journey even at high speeds. The Model Y Performance also comes with special front and rear designs for high-speed driving.

The Model Y Performance is the top-tier variant of the Model Y, priced at 61,990 euros. For those looking for a more affordable option, the entry-level Model Y variant with a smaller LFP battery and rear-wheel drive starts at 44,990 euros.

The new Model Y Performance for the European market uses batteries supplied by LG Energy Solution (LGES), specifically the new LGES 4680 V2 battery cells with NCM992 chemistry. The Model Y Performance is produced at Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin, Germany.

Inside the Model Y Performance, carbon fiber decor and front seats with more support add a touch of luxury. The rear spoiler on the Model Y Performance is more pronounced than on the regular Model Y, further enhancing its sporty appearance.

With the introduction of the Model Y Performance, the Tesla Model Y is now available in four variants, including the newly introduced Model Y Performance. The Model Y's increased range and improved performance are likely to attract a wider audience to the electric vehicle market. Deliveries for the Model Y Performance in Europe are set to begin in September.
