Skoda enhanced its plug-in hybrid model, albeit arriving somewhat tardy. Unfortunately, I failed to catch the wagon iteration before it departed.

The Škoda Superb, recently updated, now measures 4.9 meters in length, offering a spacious interior that comfortably accommodates both front and rear passengers, including tall ones. This latest model, a rental car during our test drive, underwent a significant change in its powertrain, aligning with the current progress in powertrains that is quite intense.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version of the Superb felt the intensity of this powertrain progress. Its improved powertrain provided a smooth, efficient ride, making it an appealing choice for those seeking a balance between performance and environmental consciousness. The trunk space of the PHEV Superb is 690 liters, offering ample room for luggage, making it an ideal choice for a family vacation.

The "Sportline" trim of the Superb, which we had the pleasure of testing, comes equipped with bucket seats. These seats, while generally comfortable, may not be ideal for those with exceptionally wide hips. Despite this minor drawback, the Superb's interior remains a standout feature, providing a comfortable and spacious driving experience.

Unfortunately, our test drive was cut short due to an unfortunate incident. Another driver merged into the same lane, causing damage to the Superb rental car, resulting in deep scratches to the rim. This left a painful void when it had to be returned.

Prior to this test drive, the last car we tested was the Corsa-e, a compact electric vehicle. While it was our initial desire to take the Superb on our summer vacation, it was not possible due to the test car being the last before the author's summer vacation.

Despite this, the Superb's powertrain, spacious interior, and ample trunk space left a lasting impression. Its size, while substantial, does not detract from its maneuverability or efficiency, making it a strong contender in the midsize car market. Overall, the redesigned Škoda Superb is a vehicle worth considering for those seeking a comfortable, spacious, and efficient driving experience.
