Tesla Opens New Delivery Center at Giga Texas
Tesla is set to open a new customer Delivery Center at its Giga Texas plant by the end of the month. The Delivery Center, located on the north end of the plant's West End-of-Line building, will offer customers the unique opportunity to take possession of their Tesla directly from the factory where it was built.
Completed vehicles will roll off the production line and be delivered to the Delivery Center. Here, customers can finalize paperwork, complete the transfer of ownership, and drive away in their new Tesla.
Tesla is also building additional road infrastructure to facilitate smooth vehicle pick-up. This includes a new access point on the northwest corner of the outbound lot, connecting to a north-south road that links Tesla Road and River Road. This new access point gives customers direct access to the pickup area without interfering with the plant's internal logistics.
The new Delivery Center experience also offers the potential for a factory tour, although this has not been confirmed. Additionally, there are ongoing discussions about a potential second Boring Company tunnel connecting different areas of the Giga Texas plant. This second tunnel could move Model Y vehicles between the production line and delivery zones.
It's uncertain if only Texas and nearby state residents, or all customers, will be allowed to pick up their vehicles from Giga Texas. Tesla has not yet announced any specific policies regarding this matter.
Interestingly, Tesla previously opened the Cybertunnel for newly built Cybertrucks to travel from the Giga Texas production line under the highway to a staging lot. This innovative approach to vehicle transportation is a testament to Tesla's commitment to efficiency and innovation.
The visitor facility will be built just north of the End-of-Line building, as the original plans for a separate "Welcome Center" closer to Tesla Road have shifted. The new Delivery Center will be operated by Tesla itself, ensuring a seamless and Tesla-branded customer experience.
