Thai Nguyen triumphs in tea production and tourism attracted by its offerings
In the heart of Vietnam, Thaí Nguyên Province is poised to redefine its tourism landscape, with a focus on leveraging its unique strengths and addressing existing challenges.
The rich tapestry of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and diverse ethnic communities in Thaí Nguyên makes it a compelling destination for visitors. Stretching over 8,000 square kilometers and home to nearly 1.8 million people, the province offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The province, known as the 'land of tea', boasts renowned tea regions like Tân Cương and La Bằng. Tourists can immerse themselves in the tea culture, experiencing the art of tea tasting in Tân Cương, and even travel by boats in the serene Ba Bể Lake.
Thaí Nguyên's tourism sector is expected to drive economic growth, with eco-tourism, cultural and historical tourism, agricultural and rural tourism, and community-ethnic tourism in the highlands identified as key pillars. By strategically addressing these areas, Thaí Nguyên can not only redefine its identity but also significantly contribute to regional economic growth.
The Director of Hà Nội Tourism Development and Communications Joint Stock Company, Hà Minh Cường, stresses the importance of robust infrastructure and tailored tourism products, such as tea tourism, eco-healing retreats, adventure excursions, and MICE tourism. He also suggests leveraging social media, organising cultural events, and collaborating with influencers to elevate Thaí Nguyên's tourism profile.
The Thaí Nguyên Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, led by Director Nguyen Tung Lam, is actively reviewing tourism projects and planning a forward-thinking development strategy to create distinctive tourism products, promote traditional activities, and enhance infrastructure in key tourist areas.
The Thaí Nguyên Province Tourism Association's Chairman, Đỗ Trọng Hiệp, proposes a new tourism brand identity for Thaí Nguyên, symbolised by 'Tea and Lake,' representing the fusion of Thaí Nguyên's tea heritage and the beauty of Ba Bể Lake. He also notes that the recent administrative merger enhances the tourism landscape and visitor experience.
Post-merger, Thaí Nguyên ranks third in tourist attraction and fourth in total tourism revenue among neighbouring provinces. Notable tourist destinations include Ba Bể National Park, Ba Bể Lake, Núi Cốc Lake, and Khuôn Tát Waterfall. The province is also rich in historical sites, including ATK Định Hóa, ATK Chợ Đồn, and National Historical Site 915, which hold significance from the Việt Bắc War Zone.
One of the standout tourist attractions is the Thaí Hải Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village, recognised as one of the 32 'Best Tourist Villages in the World' in 2022. This village showcases vibrant community tourism initiatives in the area.
With these strategic developments, Thaí Nguyên is set to attract a significant number of visitors. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism anticipates welcoming over 4.4 million visitors in 2024, generating approximately VNĐ3.8 trillion in tourism revenue.
In conclusion, Thaí Nguyên's unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and innovative tourism products position it as an appealing destination for various types of visitors. With a focus on robust infrastructure, tailored tourism products, and strategic marketing, Thaí Nguyên is poised to redefine its tourism landscape and contribute to regional economic growth.
