New Ownership at Edeka Branch in Braunschweig-Wenden
After 25 years of management by the Goerge family, the Edeka branch at Hauptstraße 69a in Braunschweig-Wenden has a new owner. Christian Ott, a local businessman, has taken over the supermarket, marking a significant change for the community.
As of September 1st, the Edeka "Goerge" will be renamed to Edeka "Ott". This change is not related to singer Kerstin Ott, but rather to Christian Ott, the new owner who has big plans for the market's future.
Christian Ott, who previously managed the nah & gut market in Wenden, views taking over the Edeka branch as an important step towards independence. He expressed his excitement about being his own boss and implementing his ideas at the supermarket.
The familiar service and quality at the Edeka branch will remain the same despite the changes. All 18 employees at the supermarket will either be taken on or offered positions at other branches of the Goerge family.
In early 2026, the supermarket is scheduled for a comprehensive modernization. This will include adjustments and expansions to the range, as well as a new interior. During the modernization, the service counters will remain at the Edeka branch.
The Edeka branch at Hauptstraße 69a is a frequently visited supermarket by many customers. To ensure a smooth shopping experience, Edeka has implemented a limit of four butter sticks per customer at the branch.
