The Commission assessed if the assistance aligns with the rules of the domestic market.

During the Europe-wide speed control week from April 7 to 13, 2025, the Police Headquarters Reutlingen conducted a speed marathon to ensure safety on the roads. Approximately 1,190 speeding violations were detected, with nearly 1,186 drivers having to be reported for speeding.

In the most severe case, a 59-year-old driver of an Audi TT RS exceeded the speed limit by 67 km/h on the same stretch. This driver can expect two points in Flensburg, a two-month driving ban, and a fine of at least 600 euros. Another driver, a 44-year-old driving an Audi A6, was driving 54 km/h over the speed limit on the B28 in Römerstein, facing a fine of at least 480 euros and a one-month driving ban.

Speeding was a cause or contributing factor in nearly a quarter of the fatal accidents in the jurisdiction last year. To combat this issue, the police deployed around 137 officers at 33 control points during the speed marathon. In addition to speeding violations, other offences were also detected.

Sixteen road users had to be warned for not wearing a seatbelt, and twenty-one drivers caught using their phones while driving can expect one point in Flensburg and a fine of at least 100 euros. Two drivers had to leave their vehicles due to drug influence.

In total, 19 drivers faced a driving ban, and in 170 cases, the speed limit was exceeded to the point where the offenders can expect a fine of at least 60 euros. Unfortunately, no information is available about which driver from which district violated the speed limit by the highest margin during the 2025 speed marathon under the jurisdiction of the Reutlingen Police Headquarters.

The Police Headquarters Reutlingen can be contacted for further inquiries at Phone 07121/942-1102, 07121/942-1111 (Mon - Fri/7:00 to 17:00), 07121/942-2224 (outside these hours), email: [email protected], or on their website: www.polizei-bw.de. The police emphasise that speed monitoring will continue to be an integral part of their work to increase safety on the roads. Intensive checks will continue during the remaining speed week and beyond.
