The Commission participated in the planning of the programme that spanned from 2000 to 2006.
The city of Osterath is set to welcome a new modern residential quarter, named "Kalverdonk", with the first construction phase set to begin before the end of the summer break. The "Nikolaus Quarter", the first sub-quarter, will be located between the Nikolaus Primary School and the K-Bahn track.
The council of the platform has adopted the initiation resolution for the building plan for the first construction phase, which includes the development of approximately 250 apartments on around 9.2 hectares. The majority of these apartments will be multi-family houses, supplemented by row houses and some semi-detached houses.
One of the key features of the "Kalverdonk" development is its commitment to sustainability. At least 30% of the new apartments will be built as publicly subsidized housing, and the project aims to incorporate car-free "lifelines" as the heart, with spacious green areas.
Other plans for the first construction phase include the redesign of the Schützenplatz, the construction of a new kindergarten, and the construction of a quarter garage for stationary traffic.
The "Kalverdonk" development is planned to span approximately 37 hectares and consist of five sub-quarters with diverse housing forms. The architectural firm responsible for the planning of the residential area is Shift architecture urbanism.
For those interested in learning more about the "Kalverdonk" development, an information event will take place at the Erwin-Heerich House, Neusser Feldweg 4, Osterath, on September 8th. The project details can also be found on the project website www.land-development-kalverdonk.de and on the official platform website at www.ourcity.de.
As the "Kalverdonk" development moves forward, it promises to bring a fresh, sustainable, and diverse living experience to the city of Osterath.
