Steve Carell played Michael Scott, the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin in the American version. Carell, who is married to SNL alum Nancy Walls, won several awards for his role, including a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. After "The Office," Carell went on to star in films such as "Despicable Me" and "The Big Short."

John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, a sales rep for Dunder Mifflin, showed chemistry with Jenna Fischer, who played Pam Beesly, from the time they met. This helped convince the casting crew that he was right for Halpert. Krasinski received several awards for his role in "The Office," including an Individual Achievement in Comedy award in 2006. Mindy Kaling played Kelly Kapoor, a customer service representative for Dunder Mifflin. Leslie David Baker played Stanley Hudson, a salesman at Dunder Mifflin. Baker won a TV Land "Future Classic Award" for his role in "The Office" and was nominated for several other awards. After the show, Baker continued to act in various projects, including the film "The Campaign."

After "The Office," Novak went on to write, direct, and produce various projects, including the film "Vengeance" and the HBO Max series "The Premise."

Phyllis Smith, 76, won multiple awards for her role as Phyllis Vance in "The Office," including Screen Actors Guild and TV Guide Ensemble awards in 2007 and 2008. After the show, Smith voiced the character Sadness in the Disney-Pixar film "Inside Out."

Ed Helms played Andy Bernard, the Regional Director of Sales at Dunder Mifflin's Stamford branch. Helms was nominated for several awards for his role in "The Office" and has hinted at his wife and child but has not revealed their identities. Toby Flenderson is an HR representative appointed to Dunder Mifflin by corporate and often impedes Michael Scott's antics and nurtures a dislike for himself in the man. Paul Lieberstein, who played Toby Flenderson, won three Emmys for his role in "The Office."

Kevin Malone works in the accounting department of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch and is characterized by his social ineptitude. Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone, won two Daytime Emmys and a TV Land "Future Classic" award in 2007 for his role in "The Office."

Angela Martin is the prim, professional, and "stuck up" senior accountant at Dunder Mifflin, Scranton. Vance has a history of acidic vindictiveness, often directed at Angela Martin (Angela Kinsley) and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer). After "The Office," Vance went on to act in various projects, including the film "Grace and Frankie."

B.J. Novak's character, Ryan Howard, originally auditioned for the role of Pam Beesly (ultimately played by Jenna Fischer) but was rejected due to his portrayal of Beesly being "too feisty." Novak has a penchant for photos of babies posing like grown-ups, occasional singing, fallacious claims of vegetarianism, abject hypocrisy, and being a chronic HR offender.

Creed Bratton, in the pilot episode, speaks the lines of the latter's BJ Novak. Bratton is known for his claims of gory past crimes and making outlandish admissions like having participated in various cults.
