The lively culture of the Yakutian people on display at the "Etnika-fest" in Yakutia
The annual multicultural festival, Ethnic Fest, recently took place in Yakutia, bringing together individuals passionate about preserving cultural heritage. The event, which occurred last Friday at the "Red" club, was conducted in both Yakut and Russian languages, reflecting the multinational spirit of the republic.
Lyubov Protopopova, the founder and main organizer of Ethnic Fest, led the way. She is a producer, a huchur (harp) improviser, a choreographer/dancer, and a stretching trainer. The festival, which takes place throughout the year in various formats, was initiated by activists from the people themselves, driven by their own enthusiasm.
The Ethnic Fest offered a rich array of experiences. Guests could immerse themselves in traditional arts and crafts, with Nurguiyana Eveрест displaying a collection of handmade jewelry, and Mira Argunova showcasing animated films. For those seeking a glimpse into the region's fashion, Tatyana Andreyeva presented a collection of author's costumes and clothing.
For those seeking a more interactive experience, a Tarot card reading was available, and a contest for the best ethnic costumes was a highlight of the event, allowing participants to wear traditional attire from Russia's allied countries.
The festival also aimed to promote mindfulness, respect for nature, trust, self-expression, eco-friendliness, kindness, and love. It was a platform for unity, involving as many representatives of all nationalities living in the republic as possible.
The organizers also extended their support to children with health limitations and individuals with OVD (mental disorders). This support included hippotherapy and woodworking workshops, as explained by Ekaterina Prusova, one of the ambassadors and co-organizers of the festival.
The sponsors of the Ethnic Fest include local government bodies, cultural organizations, and regional businesses, but specific sponsor names are not publicly detailed. With the arrival of summer, the festival will be held outdoors, promising a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
Performances at the Ethnic Fest included artists such as Saiana, the "Siyane Severa" northern dance ensemble, Alexander Lukin, Aleksey Soldatov, Katrin Prus, and the "Bratya Narodov" show group. The event began with a sacred ritual led by psychologist and energy practitioner Nyurgunaya Eveрест, setting the tone for a culturally enriching experience.
Zhanna Tsyrenodorzhiyeva, another ambassador and co-organizer of the Ethnic Fest, is a master of African braiding, an event planner, and a blogger. Her presence added another layer of diversity to the festival, further emphasizing its commitment to celebrating and preserving cultural heritage.
The Ethnic Fest in Yakutia is more than just a festival; it's a celebration of diversity, a platform for unity, and a testament to the passion and dedication of its organizers and participants. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique cultural experience.
