In the heart of Bamberg, Germany, the annual STADTRADELN event took place from June 23 to July 13, attracting a record-breaking 150 teams and 3,368 active cyclists. The event, aimed at promoting sustainable transportation and community spirit, saw participants cover a staggering total of 681,184 kilometers.

The event was marked by several notable achievements. Wolfgang Metzner, a renowned STADTRADELN star, joined Mayor Andreas Starke in distributing croissants and other items to cyclists at the Lower Bridge. The spirit of camaraderie was palpable as cyclists pedalled their way through the city.

In the school class competition "At least 10 students with the most cycling kilometers per head", the class "8gWinnen" from the Clavius-Gymnasium emerged victorious, averaging an impressive 393 kilometers per student. The Clavius-Gymnasium, in total, clocked an impressive 113,852 kilometers with 535 active cyclists in the "Bamberg School Competition".

The E.T.A.-Hoffmann-Gymnasium came in second place with 62,615 kilometers, followed by the Maria-Ward-Schule with 28,557 kilometers. The "Realschule am Europakanal" took the second place in the "Bamberg School Competition" category.

The corporate competition saw Wolfschmidt Supply Systems take the lead with an average of 913 kilometers per employee, followed closely by the Bike Shop Bamberg averaging 543 kilometers per employee. SPS Germany GmbH ranked third with an average of 536 kilometers per employee.

Bosch Bamberg took first place among teams with 10 or more active cyclists, covering a total of 25,714 kilometers. Team Stadt Bamberg came in second place with 21,114 kilometers, while Team Brose ranked third with 14,939 kilometers.

The award ceremony for the most successful teams took place in the inner courtyard of the Maxplatz town hall. Notable mentions were given to ten cyclists who rode over 300 kilometers each, who were awarded high-quality STADTRADELN bags by lottery in the "Extra Motivation Boost" category.

Lebenshilfe Bamberg took first place among clubs, covering over 6,700 kilometers. The team "Bamberg's Cycling Elite" won the team competition in the category "Teams with 2 to 9 active cyclists" with 5,631 kilometers. The Hausis followed with an average of 1,627 kilometers per cyclist, and Bamberg's Cycling Elite covered the most kilometers per head, with an average of 1,877 kilometers per cyclist.

A separate kindergarten category was introduced, with 14 participating institutions. Those that collected over 1,000 kilometers received play mats and small wooden bicycles for the children as a reward by lottery.

The city's efforts in promoting sustainable transportation and community spirit have paid off, as Bamberg currently ranks 1st among Bavarian municipalities of comparable size and 2nd nationwide in STADTRADELN 2025. The Clavius-Gymnasium, in particular, holds the 1st place in the statewide SCHULRADELN and also ranks among the best nationwide.

All in all, STADTRADELN 2025 in Bamberg was a resounding success, demonstrating the city's commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and fostering a sense of community.
