The Wynn Las Vegas encounters a surfacing of The Boring Company's excavation machinery
Tesla Cars Travel Through The Boring Company's Las Vegas Loop
Elon Musk's company, The Boring Company, is making waves in Las Vegas with the operation of its innovative transportation system. The Las Vegas Loop, as it's known, is a network of tunnels beneath the city that allows Tesla cars to travel at approximately 55km/h, providing quicker travel for visitors and locals around the gambling hub.
The project, which was founded as a subsidiary of SpaceX in 2017, has already seen five main stations become operational. These include the Las Vegas Convention Center, Resorts World, and Encore Las Vegas, with the latter marking a significant milestone as the tunnel-digging machine of The Boring Company has broken through in front of the Encore Wynn Las Vegas.
The manager who leads The Boring Company in Las Vegas is Eileen Moore Johnson, who served as General Manager and Strategic Advisor to the company. Johnson oversees a system that claims to have transported 4,500 people per hour during its peak time. However, it's important to note that each Tesla car in the loop requires a driver.
Elon Musk, who also owns Tesla, has been a major figure in the development of the Loop. Prior to his focus on the project, Musk headed up the Department of Government Efficiency before he left the government body earlier this year. Musk's involvement in politics extends beyond his government role, as he was a major campaigner for Trump in his battle to secure his second presidency.
Not everyone is convinced of the project's merit, with some referring to it as an overhyped "vanity project." However, the Loop has reportedly cut the travel time for some journeys from 45 minutes to just two minutes, providing a significant benefit to the city's transportation infrastructure.
As the Loop continues to expand, it will soon include Harry Reid International Airport, with plans for its addition in 2026. In the meantime, Las Vegas police have been protecting Musk's tunnels, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the innovative transportation system.
Despite the excitement surrounding the Loop, it has not been without controversy. Anti-Donald Trump and Elon Musk protestors have been attacking Tesla dealerships and cars nationwide, highlighting the polarising nature of the tech mogul and his projects.
As the Loop continues to evolve and grow, it remains to be seen how it will shape the future of transportation in Las Vegas and beyond. For now, visitors and locals can experience the quick, efficient travel offered by the Tesla cars in the loop, providing a unique and exciting addition to the city's offerings.
