Theatre season commences at Brandenburg's start holes - inauguration

In the heart of Brandenburg, cultural enthusiasts are gearing up for an exciting season as various theaters prepare to open their doors.

The State Theater in Cottbus will usher in the new season with an opening ceremony on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Kleist Forum in Frankfurt (Oder) is set to start its season in the coming weeks, with a grand theater festival on September 13. The festival, titled "Activist", promises a blend of drama, sports choreography, music, and a giant puppet, inviting audiences to explore the intricate relationship between sport and reality.

The theater group "Theater Lindenhof" will be performing this festival on the Neue Bühne in Senftenberg on the same day. Interestingly, the Neue Bühne's season will begin at the end of September, taking place in the Niederlausitz Hall, a protected monument. Before its renovation, seven theater performances will be staged in this historic venue.

Moving on to Potsdam's Hans Otto Theater, the new season commences in September, with the first premiere being "So we dream with wide-awake reason", a play about DDR author Christa Wolf. Two classics, Kleist's "The Broken Jug" and Dürrenmatt's "The Physicists", are also part of the program at the Hans Otto Theater.

Meanwhile, over at the Kleist Forum, the ancient tragedy "Phaedra's Honor" with Sophie Rois and the operetta "Die Fledermaus" featuring Boris Aljinovic will be part of the lineup. Florian Vogel, the artistic director of the Kleist Forum, is at the helm of this diverse cultural extravaganza.

Elsewhere, the park of Branitz will host outdoor performances on Sunday. The music theater ensemble, opera chorus, and philharmonic orchestra will take the stage, presenting highlights from the upcoming season such as Henry Purcell's "The Fairy Queen", Janáček's "The Cunning Little Vixen", and Prokofiev's ballet music "Cinderella". Notably, admission for these performances in Park Branitz is free.

As these cultural events unfold, Brandenburg promises to offer a rich and diverse cultural experience for all. Whether you're a theater aficionado or a casual observer, there's something for everyone in this vibrant cultural landscape. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting events!
