Thief Suspected of Stealing Mobile Phones Apprehended Through Video Monitoring
A 24-year-old suspect, of Algerian origin, was arrested in the Kalk district on August 20, following two incidents of theft in the city centre.
The suspect is alleged to have stolen items, including cash and electronics, in both cases. In the first incident on August 19, he is accused of stealing a bag containing a phone and cash from a 25-year-old cyclist's bike basket. The second incident occurred on August 20, where he allegedly stole a backpack from a 26-year-old in a similar manner.
The arrest was supported by the video control centre, with video observers discovering the crime on the recordings from both days. The suspect was recognized by police analysts after the theft in the city centre.
The Algerian accused of committing these offences has not been specifically named in the available search results. However, he was traveling by bicycle on the Hohenzollernring at around 8:45 am on the day of his arrest (August 20), and was also linked to a similar theft that occurred on August 19.
The suspect is expected to be brought before a judge later in the day. It is unclear if the 25-year-old cyclist and the 26-year-old victim from the previous cases are mentioned in this paragraph. Nonetheless, the police are investigating further to establish any potential connections between the incidents and the suspect.
