Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Oxfordshire, a contemporary residence has emerged as a stylish retreat for a family of five. Designed by NCA Architecture and Echlin, the home boasts an open-plan layout that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living, offering a welcoming, refined space for the family's three teenage children.

The Grounds and Living Spaces

The home's design positions it to overlook an expansive garden and woodland surroundings, with large floor-to-ceiling glazed doors leading out to a terrace and an expansive patio with a Mediterranean feel. The patio offers multiple seating options, creating an inviting space for the family to gather and enjoy the outdoors.

The ground-floor living room showcases a 'Marenco' sofa from Arflex and 'Utrecht' chairs from Cassina, designed by Mario Marenco in 1970 and Thomas Gerrit Rietveld in 1935, respectively. The room's contemporary aesthetic is further accentuated by the Artemide 'Shogun' table lamp and a vintage Paolo Piva travertine coffee table.

The Kitchen and Dining Room

The kitchen and dining room serve as the family's main gathering place, with ten elegant walnut Carl Hansen & Søn 'T' chairs surrounding the dining table. The bespoke grand oval travertine dining table is a stunning centrepiece, designed by Momina Watton's Atelier 278. The earthy color palette is continued in these spaces, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Private Quarters

The primary bedroom is grounded in texture, featuring a custom-made bed by Echlin and bedside tables in elm. The room's light and airy feel is enhanced by large windows, providing a peaceful atmosphere for the home's residents.

The Interior Design Vision

Echlin's creative director, Samuel Pye, aimed to juxtapose wild organic textures and materials with contemporary lines and finishes. To achieve this, he incorporated local design and makers, alongside pieces from Italy, Scandinavia, and other European countries. The result is a harmonious blend of styles that creates a unique and inviting home.

The interior design for the Cotswolds residence was developed by Studio Ashby, ensuring a cohesive and thoughtful design throughout the home. With its contemporary design, expansive garden views, and warm, inviting interior, this home in the Cotswolds offers the perfect blend of style and comfort for its lucky residents.
