Threats of Bombing: Several Schools in Munich Experiencing Disruptions
On Sunday, schools across Germany were disrupted by a coordinated series of bomb threats sent via email. At least 12 schools in Erfurt, Thuringia, were affected, with several located in the city centre. Schools of all types, including elementary, high schools, and vocational schools, were targeted in the threats.
In addition to Erfurt, schools in Munich, Ingolstadt, Hannover, Stadtroda (Saale-Holzland district), and several locations in Upper Bavaria were also affected. Over 15 schools in Munich and more than one school in Ingolstadt were targeted, while the exact number of affected schools in Upper Bavaria could not initially be determined.
In Bremen, classes were cancelled to allow police to search buildings, and the Lise-Meitner School in Stuhr near Bremen was closed due to a bomb threat. Police conducted searches and ruled out a real threat at several locations, ensuring that there was never an immediate danger.
The state criminal police offices are networking to find the culprit behind these threats. According to a LKA spokesperson, the threats appear to be a nationwide action. Although no specific perpetrators have been identified, the police assessed that there was no serious danger.
The threats caused nationwide chaos in schools across Germany. In Leipzig, more schools were affected, although no specific numbers were provided. Despite the disruption, an all-clear was given, and it was confirmed that there was never an immediate danger.
The motives behind these threats have not been clarified, but it is believed they were sent to cause disruption. The police are continuing their investigation to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
