Thuringian Philharmonic's Orchestra Performing Baroque Masterpieces - Steinbach Concert on September 25, 13.09.25

On September 13, 2025, the Baroque Orchestra of the Thuringia Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach will make its first appearance at the Altenstein Summer Concerts. The soloist of the evening will be the young, rising star coloratura soprano Vanessa Waldhart from Austria.

Vanessa Waldhart has won multiple awards and her repertoire includes roles like the Queen of the Night in Mozart's "The Magic Flute" or Rosina in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville". She will be performing Baroque Masterpieces by Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Johann Christian Bach, and Georg Anton Benda.

The concert will take place in the Baroque church, which is not barrier-free. However, it is part of the Day of Open Monuments and the anniversary "600 Years of Church in Steinbach".

In the second half of the concert, Anton Schweitzer's lyrical monodrama "Polyxena" will be performed. "Polyxena" is a classic subject from Greek antiquity, linked with the ideals of the Enlightenment, featuring moral conflicts, emotional intensity, and emphasized humanity of the characters.

The concert is also part of the "listen here in the monument" series of the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thuringia. Tickets for the concert can be obtained at www.sommerkonzerte-altenstein.de, the Bad Liebenstein Tourist Information, all regional tourist informations, and all Ticketshop Thuringia advance sale points. The regular price is 25 Euro, and reduced tickets are available at 20 Euro.

The concert begins at 7:30 PM. Don't miss this extraordinary event, mark your calendars and secure your tickets now!

It's worth noting that Georg Anton Benda was a former court kapellmeister at the Gotha court, adding a historical touch to the concert. The Baroque Orchestra of the Thuringia Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach promises an unforgettable evening of music at the Altenstein Summer Concerts.
