Tomorrow's imminent arrival
In a groundbreaking initiative, churches across Great Britain are embracing the "This Time Tomorrow" (TTT) concept, which is revolutionising the understanding of the gospel, church, and witness.
The core task of church leaders, as stated in Ephesians 4:11&12, is to equip the rest of the congregation for the real work of the church, not just to deliver sermons. This empowerment extends beyond the confines of the church building, with each person's daily life becoming a part of the church's outreach in the community and city.
The TTT interview, a key component of this movement, is a simple yet powerful tool. During the normal worship service, someone from the congregation is asked three questions: "Where will you be this time tomorrow?" This question encourages reflection on being Kingdom agents in daily life. The second question, "What challenges and opportunities do you face in your work?", stimulates thought on connecting work with fulfilling the Greatest Commandment and the Great Commission. The third question, "How can we pray for you this week?", underscores the church's support for its members in their daily lives.
By regularly giving opportunities to discover these social and civic engagements, the broader nature of the church and its role in daily life is highlighted. This approach emphasises that the church is scattered, extending beyond the congregation, and being equipped for the work of the Kingdom.
The TTT concept can be implemented in any church environment, and it has already proven successful at St. Michael's Church in Hamburg. This interview encourages reflection, fosters community, and provides a platform for members to share their diverse jobs, professions, callings, occupations, and activities, thereby enriching the church's understanding of the world and its mission.
Opportunities for witness and obedience present themselves daily in various aspects of life, such as the workplace, marketplace, and classroom. By embracing the TTT movement, churches are equipping their members to seize these opportunities and make a difference in their communities and beyond.
As the TTT movement continues to grow, it serves as a reminder that each member of the church plays a vital role in the mission of the Kingdom. The whole church stands with each individual in prayer for their daily lives, offering support and encouragement as they strive to live out their faith in the world.
