Top 32 Most Attended Concerts at New York State Fair: Four Artists Repeat Their Success (Revised)

The New York State Fair, one of the hottest live music venues in Upstate New York, has been hosting some of the biggest names in music over the past few years. This year, under the new five-year agreement with concert promoter Romeo Entertainment Group (REG), the fair promises to bring even more exciting performances to the stage.

In 2021, Nelly performed at Chevy Park, drawing an estimated crowd of 33,713. REO Speedwagon also graced the stage at Chevy Park, attracting an estimated 30,511 fans. AJR, the indie-pop band known for their catchy tunes, performed at the same venue and managed to draw an even bigger crowd of 36,397.

Over at Suburban Park, Lynyrd Skynyrd rocked an estimated crowd of 33,000 on a Thursday night, while country/alt-pop singer Jessie Murph had an estimated 49,000 fans in attendance last Friday, making it the second largest crowd in fair concert history. Dustin Lynch, another country artist, performed at Suburban Park in 2025 and had an estimated attendance of 29,000, making him the third artist from the 2025 lineup to make the top crowds list.

The top three largest crowds in the New York State Fair concert history are Lainey Wilson with 53,200, Jessie Murph with 49,000, and Megan Moroney with 47,000. Other artists who have managed to draw crowds of 30,000 or more include Bruno Mars, Chicago, Migos, Dropkick Murphys, TLC, Sonny & Cher, Lady A, Yung Gravy f/ bbno$, and Train.

Attendance at NYS Fair concerts is estimated using a formula that largely centers on estimating crowd sizes in various sections of Chevy Court and Suburban Park. The visitor numbers are typically calculated by the event organizers or management using electronic ticket scanning systems or entrance counts, often supplemented by manual counts or estimates based on venue capacity and ticket sales. This process ensures accurate tracking by recording each ticket scanned at entry and cross-referencing with sold tickets to minimize errors.

Interestingly, Lynyrd Skynyrd is now one of four artists to make the list of the 31 biggest NYS Fair concerts by attendance twice. The average concert ticket price for the top 100 tours in 2024 was $135.92, according to industry publication Pollstar.

As the New York State Fair continues to bring in big names and even bigger crowds, music lovers can look forward to another season of unforgettable performances. Stay tuned for more updates on the 2025 lineup!
