TotalEnergies Transforms Lubricants Factory in Dong Nai Province, Vietnam Into Solar Power Operation
TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pte. Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture between TotalEnergies and ENEOS, has embarked on a significant solar project at TotalEnergies' lubricants plant in Go Dau, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam. This joint venture, established on June 15, 2021, aims to develop onsite B2B solar distributed generation across Asia.
The solarization project comprises a 310kWp solar PV system coupled with a 220kWh battery energy storage system (BESS). This system is designed to meet up to 60% of the plant's electricity needs with clean, renewable energy. The project, expected to generate approximately 460 MWh of electricity annually, is anticipated to avoid around 300 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
TotalEnergies, a global energy company, has been active in Vietnam since 1991, supplying advanced lubricant technology solutions, LPG, petrochemicals, and specialty chemicals, and now solar rooftop solutions. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and is diversifying its energy mix by offering low-carbon and renewable solutions including solar and wind power in Vietnam.
ENEOS Corporation, one of the principal operating companies in the ENEOS Group, is contributing to the achievement of the Group's envisioned goals through a broad range of energy businesses. The ENEOS Group aims to become one of the most prominent and internationally competitive energy and materials company groups in Asia by 2040. In line with this ambition, ENEOS is engaged in power generation projects using biomass, hydroelectric power, wind power, etc., and this joint venture marks ENEOS' first overseas renewable energy project using distributed power sources.
The smart integration of battery storage optimizes solar energy utilization and enhances grid performance. TotalEnergies is building a competitive portfolio that combines renewables and flexible assets to deliver clean firm power to its customers. As of the end of June 2025, TotalEnergies has 30 GW of installed gross renewable electricity generation capacity.
ENEOS Group operates solar power plants in Japan and participates in renewable energy projects in various countries including Vietnam. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both companies to a sustainable future, leveraging their combined expertise to drive the transition towards renewable energy.
