Tournament Contender Ali Imsirovic Disqualified Due to Cheating Allegations
Rewritten Article
Ali Imsirovic, a notorious poker player, was booted from a Florida poker tournament mid-game during the RunGoodPokerSeries (RGPS) $1200 buy-in Main Event at Florida's bestbet Jacksonville. This isn't the first time Imsirovic has faced the axe – he's been kicked out of events before this year too.
Famously banned by GGPoker and the PokerGO Tour, Imsirovic made quite the spectacle at Florida's premier poker venue. He entered the dinner break as the chip leader, but upon returning, he vanished without a trace, leaving his chips abandoned. Tournament staff later confirmed that Imsirovic was out of the game, though an official statement is yet to come.
This isn't the first time Imsirovic has stirred up controversy. Back in February, he was 86’ed from the Champions Club Texas after trying to enter their $1500 buy-in Winter Poker Open Main Event. The Champions Club, partially owned by Phil Hellmuth, made it clear that they prioritize game integrity above all else.
Despite being blacklisted by several operators and events, Imsirovic has continued to play and cash at WSOP, WPT, and Venetian events, as well as another cash at bestbet Jacksonville in January. Daniel Negreanu, a notable figure in the poker world, called for an indefinite live and online ban for Imsirovic, citing him as a confirmed cheat and lacking remorse.
In 2023, Imsirovic finally fessed up to a bit of skullduggery – he admitted to multi-accounting on GGPoker during the pandemic but denied any use of RTA (Real-Time Assistance). The upcoming WSOP, now owned by GGPoker, could pose a challenge for Imsirovic and his comrades, as they've been banned by the platform.
Whether Imsirovic and his fellow poker cheats make an appearance at the upcoming WSOP remains to be seen. The drama is just getting started – we'll find out soon enough if they can pull off another stunt and how quickly they're shown the door.
