Tractor-trailer crash proves fatal for motorcyclist
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning on county road 8007 between Praßberg and Beutelsau, near Wangen im Allgaeu. At approximately 10:40 AM, a fatal motorcycle accident took place, claiming the life of a 39-year-old motorcyclist from Ravensburg county.
The motorcyclist was traveling from Allewinden towards Wangen when, during an overtaking maneuver, the Yamaha motorcycle veered left onto the shoulder for unknown reasons. The motorcycle then skidded and collided with a hay wagon trailer. Remarkably, the tractor driver, who was operating the hay wagon, remained uninjured.
Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, but despite these efforts, the motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and tragically passed away at the scene. The road maintenance department swiftly set up a closure and detour until the section was reopened, around 3:00 PM.
Investigations into the accident are being assisted by an expert, though the name of the expert has not been disclosed. The Ravensburg Public Prosecutor's Office also engaged this expert to help reconstruct the motorcycle accident.
The Ravensburg Public Prosecutor's Office, the police, and the expert inspected the scene of the accident together. The motorcycle sustained approximately €2,000 in damage, but there was likely no damage to the agricultural vehicle.
County road 8007 connects Kißlegg with Wangen, and it was closed for the accident investigation, motorcycle recovery, and road cleaning. This closure caused some disruption, but thankfully, a separate incident involving over 160 vintage cars on the winding roads of the Allgaeu did not result in any additional accidents.
