Traffic flow on Austria's highways could face significant delays
In the coming days, several events across Austria will lead to traffic disruptions, causing delays and closures on various roads. Here's a breakdown of the events and the affected areas:
On Sunday, the streets around the Wörthersee will be closed as part of "Carinthia Runs." Motorists should expect delays in the area.
Simultaneously, the Ötztaler Radmarathon will take place on Sunday, resulting in closures on the route from Sölden via the Timmelsjoch to Sterzing. This event will cause significant disruptions in the Tyrol region.
Meanwhile, the Ironman 70.3 Zell am See-Kaprun will bring restrictions on the Pinzgauer Straße (B311) and the Hochkönig Straße (B164). Competitors and spectators are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
The Gartenbaumesse Tulln, a horticultural fair, will attract tens of thousands of visitors until Monday in Lower Austria. Delays are expected mainly on the Donauufer Autobahn (A22) and the Stockerauer Schnellstraße (S5).
In addition, there may be delays in international travel at the Karawankentunnel (A11), the Spielfeld/Sentilj border crossing (Slovenia), and Nickelsdorf/Hegyeshalom (Hungary).
As for the German states, Berlin and Brandenburg will end their summer holidays on September 6, 2025. The end of holidays could lead to increased traffic congestion. Following them, Bavaria will end its summer holidays on September 15, 2025.
Lastly, the Autobahn exit Velden-Ost on the A2 will be closed in Carinthia, and delays can be expected when exiting to Germany on the A93 at Kufstein. Motorists are advised to check traffic updates before setting out on their journeys.
