Traffic Management: A1 Motorway Interchange Walldorf - Strict Enforcement Leads to Over 1000 Traffic Violation Notices and 150 Driving Bans over 2 Days in Walldorf, Rhine-Neckar District

The Mannheim Police Headquarters traffic department has been actively enforcing the speed limit on the A5 motorway at the Walldorf interchange, following a series of speed checks conducted on February 9, 2025, and February 25, 2025.

During these checks, over 1,000 vehicles were found to be traveling too fast, with nearly 80,000 vehicles passing through the interchange each day. The speed limit was reduced to 80 km/h during the day due to the high frequency of accidents, particularly at the tail end of traffic jams.

The head of the Heidelberg traffic department, Police Chief Inspector Nicolas Schuetz, emphasised the importance of adhering to the speed limit for safe traffic flow. He stated, "Observing the speed limit is crucial for maintaining a safe and efficient flow of traffic."

In 150 cases, the speeding was so severe that the drivers also face a driving ban. The worst offender was a driver who was traveling at an astonishing 164 km/h despite the 80 km/h speed limit.

The traffic police department will continue to strictly monitor the speed at the Walldorf interchange to ensure the safety of all road users. It is a reminder for all drivers to be mindful of the speed limits and drive responsibly.
