Tragic Incident in Leipzig: Woman Passes Away, Child Sustains Injuries
A 37-year-old man, identified as the former partner of a 42-year-old woman who was tragically killed in Leipzig on Monday evening, has been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
The incident, which took place in the Reudnitz district, sent shockwaves through the quiet neighbourhood. Emergency services were called to an apartment in the area, where they found the woman and a 10-year-old boy, both severely injured.
The boy was quickly transported to a clinic for treatment, while the woman later succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy was performed on her body on Tuesday at the order of the investigating judge.
The suspect was arrested at the scene on Monday evening and has since been taken into custody. He was also identified as the father of the injured boy.
The public prosecutor's office is involved in the ongoing investigation, along with the Criminal Police Inspectorate and the Crime Scene Unit of the State Criminal Police Office.
A neighbour, who is a direct resident, described the family as quiet and reserved, stating that he had never heard a fight until Monday evening.
