Train departs with shattered windows after intoxicated individual hurls bottles of beer
A 31-year-old man was arrested by the federal police after an incident at Munich Central Station on Monday evening. The man, who has previous police records, is suspected of causing damage to a regional train headed to Mittenwald.
The incident occurred when the man missed the train to Mittenwald and, in a fit of frustration, threw two beer bottles at the train. As a result, damage was inflicted on a train door and the outside of a train carriage.
The attendant activated the emergency brake after the bottles were thrown, and thankfully, the train attendant, who was standing behind the hit door, remained unharmed during the incident.
The train involved in the incident was no longer operational and had to be replaced. The federal police are investigating the man for suspected dangerous interference with rail traffic, as well as joint criminal damage.
A breathalyzer test on the Afghan national revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.57, leading the authorities to suspect that the man was under the influence at the time of the incident.
The man was temporarily arrested by the federal police near Munich Central Station and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday. The federal police are also investigating the man for attempted dangerous bodily harm due to the potential risk to passengers and staff on the train.
