Transforming Interiors with Lush Vibrance: The Elegant and Trendsetting Green Color Makes a Striking Comeback

In the world of interior design, the colour green is making a bold statement. From high-traffic areas to vibrant breakfast nooks, designers are embracing the hue to bring a touch of nature indoors.

Denise Taylor, the founder and design director of Aspen Design House, recommends using commercially rated fabrics for areas like the breakfast nook. This practical choice ensures that the fabric can withstand regular use and spills, while still adding a touch of green to the space. In the River Retreat breakfast nook, green upholstered dining chairs and a leather green bench reflect the mountain landscapes outside.

Shelby Van Daley of Daley Home used a grass-cloth paper with an olive green to add texture and movement to a dining room. To add depth, she also used a beautiful green sisal wallpaper from Thibaut in another dining room. Van Daley suggests starting with a base colour and building up texture in a space, using a grass-cloth wallpaper as an example.

The colour green can confidently play the supporting role in a design, as shown in a vibrant and colorful breakfast room where green seeks to celebrate other hues just as much as it gives the room a sense of freshness. In a moody office space, Far Studio used a custom green Roman clay plaster finish on the walls to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Leah Ring of Another Human Studio used all saturated tones of greens and blues in a kids' bathroom to create a retro-inspired underwater world. To balance out the palette for adventurous clients, Ring used a split pea soup green in a retro-inspired kitchen. Another Human Studio also used a bold brat green in a bathroom to make a case for more adventurous applications of green.

Green can be married with complementary tones to create a harmonious design. Brittany Wurzak Hakimfar of Far Studio used Farrow and Ball's Studio Green in a jewel-toned butler's pantry, guided by the veins of the stone. Olympic Olive Green from Lowes was used in a dining room to achieve a strong olive green color.

Jeremiah Young, owner and design director of Kibler & Kirch, suggests using black, white, green, and yellow gold as neutrals in a design, allowing accent colors like pinks and reds to shine. This approach ensures that green remains a versatile and adaptable choice in any space.

The colour green is synonymous with nature and brings the outside in when used in decoration. By incorporating green into their designs, these designers are creating spaces that are not only visually appealing, but also inviting and calming. Whether used as a base colour or as an accent, green is a colour that is sure to remain popular in the world of interior design.
