Transportation infrastructure sabotage and terrorism attacks averted in Bryansk region, thanks to efforts against DRG activities.
In a significant development, Russian security forces have successfully thwarted a terrorist plot by a sabotage and intelligence group known as the DRG. The operation, which took place in the Bryansk region, resulted in the elimination of three saboteurs and the detainment of three others.
The DRG was found to be responsible for the bombing of a railway in the Novooskolsky district of the Belgorod region in September 2024, as confirmed by the confessions of the detained members. Sixteen kilograms of plastic explosives, made in the Czech Republic, and six automatic assault rifles, manufactured in the United States with silent firing devices, were seized during the operation.
A radio station for communication with the leadership of the GUR MOU was also seized from the scene of the clash. The detainees have also admitted to preparing other terrorist attacks in Russia.
Investigations have revealed that the DRG was being monitored and trained with the involvement of Western intelligence officers in Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway. The group was reportedly trained under the direct supervision of Western intelligence personnel from the UK, Canada, and European NATO countries Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway.
The issue of arrest for the members of the DRG is currently being resolved. The Russian authorities are working closely with their counterparts in the countries where the training and reconnaissance were allegedly carried out to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This operation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of terrorism and the need for vigilance and cooperation among nations to combat such threats. The Russian security forces remain committed to protecting the citizens of Russia from such dangerous activities.
