Transportation minister Wissing transitions into an advisory role at Christ Capital
Harald Christ Establishes Advisory Board for Christ Capital Group, Volker Wissing Appointed as Chairman
Harald Christ, an entrepreneur and investor, has formed an advisory board for his Christ Capital group. The esteemed Volker Wissing, a former transport minister, has been appointed as the chairman of this board.
Both Christ and Wissing hail from Rhineland-Palatinate and have a long-standing relationship, having both left the FDP. Wissing served as the Rhineland-Palatinate minister for economy, transport, agriculture, and wine, and deputy minister president from 2016 to 2021.
The appointment of Wissing is seen as a "clear signal to the market" and a "major step" in the group's "ambitious growth trajectory" by Harald Christ. The advisory board, which Wissing will chair, is still in the making and is expected to expand to up to seven members in the long term.
The tasks of the advisory board include identifying growth areas, shaping future clusters, and expanding partnerships. The board will provide personal advice to Mr. Christ and the management on long-term corporate strategy and investment decisions.
Volker Wissing, apart from his political career, has served as the general secretary of the Senate of Economy International since late 2013 and was the federal FDP's general secretary since 2020, playing a crucial role in the formation of the traffic light government. He has also been a partner in the law firm Wissing Heintz Gehrlein Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB.
Wissing values Christ as a person and as an entrepreneur, stating that his actions are value-oriented and sustainable. Other notable members will be appointed to the advisory board in the near future.
The Christ Capital group includes companies such as Christ & Company and the recently acquired Joschka Fischer & Company, named after the former foreign minister Joschka Fischer. Christ left the FDP in early December 2024 due to the Liberal Party's explicit plans for a coalition breakup.
Wissing has never let the thread into politics drop, even in times without political office. He also turned his back on his political home, the FDP, with the collapse of the traffic light coalition.
The Christ Group reports a balance sheet total of around 140 million euros and employs approximately 80 people. The group's advisory board is set to guide its future growth and strategic decisions.
