Triumph Paves Way for New Beginnings, Woltemade's Absence Unremarkable:

The German U21 national team has started their EM 2027 qualification campaign on a positive note, securing a 2:0 victory in their first match since the lost European final against England over two months ago.

The match, played in Albania, saw the debut of Dzenan Pejcinovic from VfL Wolfsburg, who scored one of the goals in the game. Ilyas Ansah from 1. FC Union Berlin also found the back of the net in the encounter.

U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo expressed his satisfaction after the successful restart of his youth national team. He stated, "Victories are irreplaceable." Di Salvo also highlighted the depth of his squad, expressing that he is pleased with the performances and sympathy values shown by the team.

In a bid to maintain a level-headed approach, Di Salvo does not focus on where others score. Instead, he advises not to put too much pressure on the team. DFB CEO Andreas Rettig shares this sentiment, believing the U21 team has the potential to fill big shoes.

Pejcinovic, the goalscorer in the match, does not aim to compare himself to the likes of Youssoufa Moukoko. Instead, he focuses on maintaining momentum from his year group. The team's attack continues to show high quality after the departure of top scorer Nick Woltemade.

Nicolo Tresoldi from FC Bruges and Nelson Weiper from 1. FSV Mainz 05 started in the U21 restart. The German Football Association's selection demonstrated a strong performance, showcasing their readiness for the qualification tournament, which will be held in Albania and Serbia.

The team's next match will be at home, in Rostock, against Latvia on September 9, 2025, at 20:30. The match will be broadcast on Sat.1 at 8:30 PM. Rettig advises fans not to put too much pressure on the team, as they continue to build towards the EM 2027.

Di Salvo, despite the victory, remains grounded, emphasising the importance of each match in the qualification process. He is confident that the team will continue to perform well, with their focus on maintaining their momentum and building on their success.
