In a significant display of international diplomacy, US President Donald Trump attended a military parade in Beijing on September 3, 2020. The event, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Japan's defeat in World War II, was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Despite the grandiose spectacle, Trump maintained his confidence in the strength of the US military, stating that no one would use their military against the United States. He described the parade as "strategic showboating."

Trump's attendance came amidst reports of potential talks with Putin around the same time, but no direct participation of the US delegation in the Beijing parade was indicated. The Russian government has not announced an invitation specifically to the United States delegation for the military parade.

The parade featured displays of advanced weaponry, a reminder of the global military capabilities on display. Trump, however, expressed that he was not concerned about such a formation, reiterating that the United States has the strongest military in the world.

In a surprising turn, Trump expressed disappointment that America's role in Japan's surrender was not mentioned in Xi Jinping's speech. This omission seemed to cast a shadow over the otherwise cordial interactions between the two leaders.

During the event, President Xi Jinping held bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, referring to him as his "old friend." Despite Trump's claims of a potential plot against Washington, no one, including the three leaders, had any thoughts of plotting against the US, as confirmed by Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov.

Trump's sentiments towards China were ambivalent, as he expressed warm wishes towards President Xi Jinping and the people of China, but also expressed suspicion towards them in a post on Truth Social.

In addition to his meetings with Putin and Xi, Xi also met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further highlighting the international significance of the event.

As the world watches, the tensions between the US and its allies remain high, with the parade serving as a stark reminder of the global military landscape. The future of international relations remains uncertain, as leaders navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries.
