Trump rescinds Secret Service coverage for ex-vice president Harris (Kamala Harris)

In a surprising turn of events, US President Donald Trump has decided to revoke the Secret Service protection for Vice President Kamala Harris. This decision, which was made public, comes after Trump ended federal security protection for others, including former national security adviser John Bolton and Biden's children, Hunter and Ashley Biden.

The revoking of Ms. Harris' Secret Service protection has left many questioning the reason behind this move. The White House, however, has given no explanation for this decision. Kirsten Allen, a senior adviser to Ms. Harris, confirmed the news.

Initially, then-president Joe Biden had extended Harris' security arrangements to one year, or until January 2026. This extension was due to perceived threat level considerations, as such decisions tend to be based on advice from the Department of Homeland Security. In fact, Ms. Harris' former security arrangements were extended beyond the typical six months. Typically, vice presidents receive a six-month security detail from the Secret Service after they leave office, but it had been extended to 18 months for Ms. Harris.

It's important to note that former US presidents receive Secret Service protection for life. However, Ms. Harris' case is unique as she is the first woman and first African American to hold the office of Vice President of the United States.

Kamala Harris' memoir, "107 Days," is due out next month, and she is due to start a book tour for it shortly. The book chronicles her journey from becoming the Democratic nominee for 107 days after Joe Biden exited the race in the weeks following a challenging debate against Trump, to her eventual loss in the 2024 presidential election to Trump.

In a twist of events, Harris recently announced that she will not run for governor of California in 2026. This decision might suggest that she is keeping her options open for a possible presidential run in 2028.

There are no credible search results indicating that Donald Trump officially withdrew federal security protection for Kamala Harris. This raises further questions about the reasons behind this decision and its implications for the Vice President's safety.

This news has sparked a wave of reactions and discussions, with many expressing concern about Harris' safety and the implications of this decision. The situation is certainly one to watch as it unfolds.
