Turkey Maintains Anti-Dumping Duties on Water Heater Imports

In a move aimed at preventing unfair competition in imports, the Ministry of Trade in Turkey has announced a decision to maintain anti-dumping duties on water heater imports from China, Italy, and Serbia. This decision was published in Turkey's Official Gazette following final review investigations into the imports of thermosiphon-electric storage water heaters and gas-powered instantaneous water heaters from these countries.

The investigations found that lifting existing protective measures would likely result in continued or renewed damage to domestic producers. As a result, the anti-dumping duties for water heater imports from China, Italy, and Serbia will continue.

However, it's important to note that the rates for these duties are not uniform across all countries and manufacturers. For instance, the rates for anti-dumping duties on thermosiphon-electric storage water heaters are higher than those for gas-powered instantaneous water heaters from China. The rates for these water heaters from various companies and countries will continue at rates ranging from 12% to 49% of the CIF value.

The anti-dumping duties for Chinese gas-powered instantaneous water heaters will range from 20.12% to 53.41% of the CIF value, depending on the manufacturer. On the other hand, the anti-dumping duties for thermosiphon-electric storage water heaters are higher than 20.12%, the minimum rate for Chinese gas-powered instantaneous water heaters.

The decision to maintain anti-dumping duties on water heater imports from Italy and Serbia was also announced. However, the specific rates for these imports were not mentioned in this paragraph.

The decision to renew the anti-dumping duties on water heaters from China, Italy, and Serbia during a final investigation was made by the European Commission and published on March 8, 2023. The final review investigations were conducted by the Ministry of Trade in Turkey.

This decision is significant as it highlights Turkey's commitment to protecting its domestic producers from what it perceives as unfair trade practices. The decision is effective immediately.
