MXGP of Türkiye Wraps Up with Exciting Finish

The 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) concluded its stop in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye, with a thrilling race in the premier MXGP class. Dutch star Jefrey Herlings clinched the victory, but the race was far from over with two races remaining in the season.

The Afyonkarahisar track, known for its challenging logistics and costs, proved to be a must for top competitors. Despite the demanding conditions, the track underwent last-minute adjustments with FIM officials to ensure optimal conditions. The rain over the past 15 days helped create a homogeneous track surface, much to the athletes' delight.

Ogun Baysan, Vice President of the Turkish Motorcycle Federation (TMF), emphasized the importance of the MXGP of Türkiye. He highlighted the diversity of participants and stated that the Afyonkarahisar stage is where some of the most important points of the season are won.

In the MXGP class, Herlings' victory was closely followed by Romain Febvre from France, who finished in second place. Lucas Coenen from Belgium claimed the third spot. The MXGP series now moves to the final international rounds: MXGP of China in Shanghai (Sept. 13-14) and MXGP of Australia in Darwin (Sept. 20-21).

Meanwhile, in the MX2 World Junior Motocross Championship, Simon Langenfelder from Germany took the crown, with Kay De Wolf from the Netherlands finishing in second and Guillem Farres from Spain in third. Janis Martins Reisulis from Latvia claimed the overall European championship title in the EMX250. Francisco Garcia won the second leg of the European Motocross Championship (EMX250) at the Afyon Motor Sports Center.

Turkish riders Yigit Kara, Aras Efe Yildirim, Ahmed Bugra Geren, and Mert Akkafa also competed in the EMX250 at the Afyon Motor Sports Center.

The Australian Grand Prix at Hidden Valley marks the long-awaited return of MXGP to Australia after a 24-year hiatus, with a brand-new permanent track hosting the event. The MXGP series will undoubtedly continue to excite fans as it heads to its final rounds.
