In a bid to enhance its global standing in education, Turkey is making comprehensive efforts to boost education exports and encourage international student mobility. According to the Ministry of Education, the country currently holds approximately 3.5% of global international student mobility.

The goal is to ensure sustainable growth in education exports, and as part of this initiative, seven educational brands in the sector have received Turquality support, with plans to expand this number. Supported activities include overseas advertising, international marketing, rental and operational costs for international units, and promotional delegation programs.

The ministry's support for the sector doubled compared to the previous year, reaching ₺162.6 million in 2024. This increased funding is aimed at further strengthening Turkey's brand value in education.

The "Study in Turkey" program and international student applications are supported by several organisations and institutions, including the DAAD Turkey (German Academic Exchange Service Information Center in Istanbul), the Union of Municipalities of Turkey (hosting events like LOCALINTERNational 2025), and individual universities such as Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, which provides services for international students.

Turkey's education services exports reached $2.87 billion last year, a significant increase from previous years. The country hosts students from 180 nations, and the international student population has increased nearly 11-fold since 2012, reaching 337,119 in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The ministry organized 20 national participation fairs under the "Study in Turkey" brand this year, furthering its efforts to increase Turkey's appeal to international students. The aim is to continue this growth and further establish Turkey as a global hub for education.

In addition to these efforts, the number of universities in Turkey has increased from 76 in 2002 to 208 in 2025, making Turkey the 25th country globally in terms of total higher education institutions. The ministry aims to continue this trend, further solidifying Turkey's position as a leading educational destination.
