Twins Demolish Padres 7-2: Buxton Slugs a Career-High Number of Home Runs, Ryan Throws Seven Impeccable Shutout Innings

The Minnesota Twins celebrated a 7-2 win over the San Diego Padres in their final game before a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox, which begins on Monday.

Joe Ryan, the Twins' pitcher, was the star of the show, delivering a stellar performance with seven scoreless innings. He scattered five hits and struck out eight, including Ramón Laureano and Gavin Sheets in the fourth inning. Ryan's impressive outing came after a pair of rough outings, as he threw a season-high 104 pitches in the game.

Ryan's victory improves his record to 13-7 on the season. The Twins' offense provided ample support, with Royce Lewis and Byron Buxton contributing two hits each. Buxton's performance included a career-best 29th home run, further highlighting his strong season.

The Twins' victory was their second in the three-game series against the Padres. However, it comes at a time when the team has struggled, having not won a series since Aug. 8-10 against Kansas City. The Twins have since gone 5-12.

Meanwhile, the Padres' recent form has been less than ideal. They have dropped to 2-5 in their past seven games, slipping two games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.

As the Twins prepare for their series against the White Sox, they will face Aaron Civale in the opener. Civale has a 5.26 ERA for the White Sox. In contrast, the Padres will be led by Dylan Cease, who is scheduled to start for their home game against Baltimore on Monday.

The series against the White Sox marks a crucial point in the Twins' season, as they look to turn their fortunes around. Luke Keaschall, who was hit by a pitch from Kyle Hart, who was recalled from Triple-A El Paso earlier in the day, will hope to contribute to the team's efforts.

Jake Cronenworth flew out in the fourth inning, ending the inning for the Padres, who were unable to score despite having runners on first and second with no outs. The Padres will be hoping for a better showing when they face the Orioles on Monday, with Kyle Bradish scheduled as the Orioles' starter.
